Phil "The Godfather" Hudson has been resident at The Argyle since we opened in 2007 and can be seen and heard in the floating DJ box every Saturday 12am-3am. We asked him how he would describe Argyle Saturday’s & his sets....
Where to start, firstly I think The Argyle have got a great bunch of DJ’s who are all different in there own way, which can only be a good thing. We have two great young DJ’s in Casa & Huw who are certainly keeping me on my toes. They’re really passionate about Dj’ing and The Argyle in general and there in it for the right reasons, which is quite refreshing these days when it comes to younger DJ’s.
I’ve been involved with The Argyle since it opened and I can honestly say it’s never been better! I love Saturdays at The Argyle. Since we’ve added Mark Matthews on sax I think it’s got even bigger and everyone loves hearing & watching him play. He’s such a great performer and interacts with the crowd so well, he’s probably the best in the business at what he does and I love playing along side him. We work pretty well together, the weeks he’s not playing people ask where he is, so we must be doing something right.
Now then for my set, hard to say, I try to make it as different as I can most weeks so people who come every week (which there are lots of) don’t get bored of me and keep coming back. I’m not going to tell you too much about what I play you’ll have to come and see for yourself.
There are exciting times ahead at The Argyle, lots going on, not just on a Saturday but across all nights, so for the regulars you certainly won’t be disappointed. So watch this space!
See Phil, Mark Matthews and our other star DJs Wednesday to Sundays, 6pm til close.
