ILLUMINATI ARTIST PROFILES:

JONTI
Multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist, Jonti, began assembling music after his departure from South Africa to Australia in 1999. Spending countless hours studying records like they were books, processing each song, this became Jonti's music school, testing his theories on a 4-track recorder.
If you love music, eventually you meet others who do too. In the past year, through different projects, Jonti has recorded with Mark Ronson, Santigold, Sean Lennon and the Dap-Kings, as well as producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile).

Although Jonti describes his music as simple, label head Peanut Butter Wolf sees it as anything but that. “I understand the pop references because his music is so catchy, but the arrangements blew me away. I couldn’t figure out how the hell he did what he did. That he did it all on his own at such an early age kinda scared me. I knew right away I needed to add him to the roster.” You will soon understand why Stones Throw is proud to present its first Australian signing Jonti as a new member of the family.

CASSIAN
Cassian has become one of Australia’s busiest exports, clocking up some serious miles performing all over the world in clubs from LA to Rome, Warsaw to Shanghai & Vancouver to Singapore. In between releases he garnered praise from indie dance fans far and wide for his remix of RAC & Penguin Prison’s ‘Hollywood.’ Reaching the #1 Remix spot on The Hype Machine twice and a staggering 120,000+ plays on Soundcloud. Cassian has completed a slew of well received remixes for artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, Flight Facilities, The Rapture, Bag Raiders, Miami Horror, PNAU, Empire of the Sun, Classixx, Gigamesh, Citizens!, and more.

With several tours across North America, Asia and Europe and appearances at the biggest festivals in Australia: Splendour in the Grass, Stereosonic, Creamfields and The Big Day Out, it’s clear this Aussie golden boy has an unparalled energy that will continue to dominante the dance floors this year.

WORDLIFE
After just 2 years on the scene, Sydney production duo wordlife are already making waves across Australia and around the world with releases on Motorik and forthcoming on Club Mod.
Describing their sound as electronic with no limits, wordlife combine soulful vocals with futuristic house n’ techno; even flipping the script to write 80bpm futuristic dancehall infused rap beats.

Live - wordlife mix deconstructed versions of their original tracks and remixes with live MPC, drum machine and vocals to create something quite freaky for the floor. This unique show has seen them support the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, Ryan Hemsworth, Brodinski & Gessafelstein with major festivals Parklife and Field Day unleashing them on their crowds.

GLOVES
Gloves the ‘Aussie Disco Prince’, better known to some of us as Yama Indra, holds a list of dance-til-you-drop-dead accolades that make every “been-there-done-that” globe-trotting journo with a chip on their shoulder envious.

Between his prolific remixes & overplayed originals of the last two years, his work has featured on some of the biggest compilations worldwide, including three Ministry of Sound releases, the last two Bang Gang compilations, Germany’s ‘Disco Boys’, and One Loves ‘Mobile Disco’ & Hed Kandi’s ‘Nu Disco’.

ELLY K
Armed with an enviable record collection and a penchant for all things soul and groove, Elly K’s sound is eclectic and erogenously engaging, sitting somewhere between The Whispers, Jamiroquai, and Armand Van Helden. Her love of the New York and Parisian sounds lead a sequenced journey through all things disco, house and electronicool.

Staging up for the first time in 2010, the past years have seen this starlet shoot from dance-floor to dance-hall, supporting a majority of local music royalty along the way. Making her mark through her music, Elly K’s mixtapes have streamed through the blogosphere, appearing across uber-portals Sloth Boogie, Pollo Erotico, o2 Music, Party By Jake, Nu Disco Your Disco, and The Ambitious C. Coupled with appearances on Kiss FM and FBi Radio, there is more to this girl than a pretty face and a great smile.

DUBLIN AUNTS
A pairing of a DMC Champion DJ and a seasoned Songwriter/Producer, The duo of Adam Padayhag & Xavier Millis have steadily been spreading their own brand of electronic funk across the globe since late 2009. Meandering through Disco, House, Garage and more, the group are constantly evolving and refining their sound both in the studio and in the booth.

Churning out an impressive amount of quality remixes over the past 24 months the group have amassed a solid online presence, culminating in a #3 on Hype Machine’s ‘Most Popular’ chart – beating out hordes of detestable mash-ups with their driving nu-disco remix of an unknown band from Sydney. In the real world, the two veteran selectors have continued to expose the deeper end of today’s disco and house music to thousands of people every week.

With a slew of Original tracks being readied for release in 2013, Dublin Aunts have something in store for all fans of the boogie.
